Trick-or-treating will most likely look different this year. If you’d rather skip the traditional route of going around your neighborhood altogether, Lowe’s is offering free curbside trick-or-treating at all locations nationwide.

From 6-7 p.m. on Oct. 22 and Oct. 29, families can drive up to their local Lowe’s and receive free candy and a small pumpkin. Costumes are encouraged but not required. All you need to do to attend is visit Lowe’s website to reserve a spot.

If you don’t have a Lowe’s near you, Walmart is transforming more than 100 of its store parking lots into trick-or-treat adventures that are both contact-free and socially distanced. The events, which are free, run through Halloween. Just be sure to see if your Walmart is participating.

Chuck E. Cheese’s is also offering some Halloween fun every Friday and Saturday night in October, though it’s not free. For $14.99, guests will get admission to DJ Munch’s glow party. Receive a treat bag with a collectible band featuring 30 minutes of All You Can Play, candy, three glow bracelets and glow tattoos. Kids can also trick-or-treat from three designated areas within the restaurant, with cast members using tongs for a touchless experience.

If neither of those is for you, you can also stop by your local Krispy Kreme on Halloween for a free doughnut — just make sure you’re in costume! Choose between your favorite doughnut or one of their new monster doughnuts: Frank Monster, Drake Monster and Wolfie Monster.

If you’d rather avoid trick-or-treating altogether, there are plenty of other ways to enjoy Halloween and stay safe at home.

This Pumpkin Patch Stomp Game from Hershey is basically a Halloween version of a pinata, as you fill balloons with candy and have your children pop them to get the treats inside.

Or, kids can take some Halloween-themed virtual classes from Outschool, like a special FX makeup class, Jack Skellington’s escape room, an exploration of bats with Pokémon, Halloween Chemistry “Hocus Pocus”-style and more.
