Empty store shelves have become a pretty common sight.

The panic buying of last week may have subsided, but supplies of basics are thin, and shoppers have to be creative.

One grocery shopper on Monday RTV6's John Matarese spoke to says she bought a lot of crackers and biscuits.

Many grocery stores are now missing essential food items, including canned food, soup, chicken, ground beef, bread, pasta, and even spaghetti sauce.

Walmart says it is bypassing warehouses and going directly to stores, and Publix is closing at 8 p.m. to sanitize and restock stores.

Most major stores are now rationing many items to prevent hoarders from clearing the shelves.

President Trump and regional leaders say if you have a few weeks of supplies, to please stop hoarding — that is the only way stores can restock.
