Don't Waste Your Money: Secret consumer scores

We're all familiar with a credit score that tells a bank if you are worthy of getting a cell phone plan or a loan on a car. But now, there is also a secret consumer score.

A new investigation by the New York Times finds that marketing companies are assigning consumer scores to people. The ratings are based on how good of a customer they are, what part of town they live in, and how much money they spend.

A high score may get you to the front of the line at the call center. A low score may get you a long wait time — and worse.
