Millions of Americans are now scrambling to change their springtime travel plans. They're canceling cruises, postponing flights, and hunkering down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

But at the same time, young people are rushing to buy cheap flights right now.

A report in the Daily Mail says that while airlines are coping with thousands of cancellations, young people are grabbing suddenly discounted flights. Many of them are college students now looking at a month without class.

The report says some intrepid travelers are grabbing flights to Hawaii for $198, while someone posted a screenshot of a flight to Australia for $49 (though, that may not be in U.S. dollars).

One reason this is, is most young people do not seem to be severely impacted by the coronavirus, with just cold symptoms in many cases.

However, doctors say traveling may not be a great idea because you could end up quarantined when you get home, and you take the chance of giving the virus to older relatives.

Some doctors are also wondering if canceling classes is a good idea if the students are now going to start traveling around the world.

Keep this in mind, so you don't waste your money.
