NOBLESVILLE, Ind. -- A 2-year-old boy drowned Saturday after falling into a neighbor's pool.

The drowning happened around 6:20 p.m. on the north side of Noblesville.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office said an adult family member was mowing the yard when she noticed the child was missing.

Deputies say they found 2-year-old Drayson D. White face down in a neighbor's pool in the 1400 block of North 10th Street just after 6:30 p.m.

Several officers jumped into the pool to rescue the young boy and began performing CPR until paramedics arrived.

The child was rushed to Riverview Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

On Monday, the sheriff's office said preliminary investigation suggested the boy had wandered away from the supervision of his aunt and somehow fallen into the pool. Officials said the pool was surrounded by a fence, but that the boy may have accessed the pool through a loose portion or an unsecured gate.
