INDIANAPOLIS -- A day after IMPD Chief Troy Riggs revealed the department is investigating a credible threat against its officers, Call 6 Investigates got an inside look at how police investigate threats that could affect all Hoosiers.
Inside the Indiana Intelligence Fusion center, staff work to find any potential threats to Indiana.
The center doesn't do criminal investigation. What it does it facilitate communication and analytical resources to those that do investigate crimes.
The center is tasked with being the intelligence hub of the state – collecting information, analyzing it and then communicating it to the nearly 550 law enforcement agencies across Indiana.
It tracks all kinds of potential threats, from cyberattacks to written threats on social media. The center is also tracking threats to police officers across the country.
While Indiana State Police wouldn't go into specifics, they said the Fusion Center has been responsible for stopping multiple potential terrorist attacks in Indiana.
