Posted

KOKOMO, Ind. -- The federal government gave the green light this week to low-interest loans to help Hoosiers affected by last month's tornadoes rebuild.

The program will cover Howard and six surrounding counties. The maximum amount available to a person will be $240,000.

If your credit is good, the interest rates on the loans will be around 3.12 percent. If you have no access to credit, the interest rate on the loans could be as low as 1.56 percent.

Businesses and non-profits can borrow up to $2 million.

If you wish to apply for a loan, you'll have until November 7 to get help on your property claim. Businesses have until June 8, 2017, to file an economic injury claim.

The Small Business administration is prepared to make more than $44 million in loans.
