INDIANAPOLIS -- When an IMPD officer was shot by a fleeing suspect Monday night, a Good Samaritan wasted no time in rushing to his aid.
Cary Ramsey works as a private security officer for the Central Indiana Protection Agency.
At the time of the shooting, Ramsey was on his way to work. But when he saw the shooting, his gut instinct was to take action.
"It's a dangerous job," Ramsey said, "but he was very calm."

The 22-year-old father works at CIPA in the evenings and studies criminal justice at Ivy Tech during the day.
He hopes one day to wear the Indiana State Police uniform – and what happened Monday night didn't shake his dream.
Ramsey was equipped with a body camera and an iPhone. On the videotape, the injured officer can be heard telling those around him, "I've been shot a little … I'm alright."
