INDIANAPOLIS-- First responders got a big treat Monday for laboring on Labor Day.
Olive Garden delivered breadsticks, pasta, meatballs and other goodies to nurses, doctors, firefighters and other responders.
RTV6 was there as the restaurant brought food for workers at St. Vincent Hospital on 86th Street.
“We really appreciate it, because a holiday to us is just another day and people still get sick,” said Jen Harris, a nurse at St. Vincent. “For them to think of us, is really appreciated.”
Olive Garden has more than 850 restaurants nationwide, and this is the 17th consecutive year they’ve extended their gratitude to first responders with lunch.
“This is our way of honoring the first responders, the people who do great things, and it’s our way of saying thank you,” said Renee Twilley, General Manager at the Olive Garden in Carmel.
Olive Garden has served than 12,000 meals since 2002 through this nationwide effort.
