INDIANAPOLIS – A man was attacked at his own home Tuesday morning on Indy’s east side, and says he is thankful to be alive.

David McElhiney, 54, said three teenagers with weapons approached him in his driveway in the 1300 block of North Harbison and attacked him, forcing him to flee his property.

He was left with multiple scrapes and a bruise on his head.

"I just want them caught and I want it stopped," said McElhiney. "There are other neighbors that have said they had things stolen. This needs to be taken care of."

Following the incident, McElhiney contacted Call 6 Investigates where he shared several surveillance videos showing three people, one with a long gun on his side, attempting to break into his home around 3:30 a.m.

McElhiney said the group also stole at safe from his home last Wednesday.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police said they are aware of the incident and a detective was assigned to the case.

If you have any information on this incident, call Crime Stoppers at (317) 262-TIPS.
