WHITESTOWN, Ind. -- The Whitestown Town Council will likely select a new clerk treasurer in 2016.
Amanda Andrews resigned Wednesday at a special town council meeting amid accusations she’s failed to show up for her elected position since October due to having another full time position at Subaru in Lafayette.

“I never planned to have both jobs,” said Andrews at the December 30 council meeting. “I just had to make a decision and I would like to do that with the new council in January. I would encourage anyone interested in the position to apply and reach out to me to ensure your resume gets reviewed.”
Andrews must first submit an official resignation to Boone County Clerk Jessica Fouts, but Fouts told Call 6 Investigates Thursday she has yet to receive an official resignation from Andrews.
Once the official resignation is received, the Whitestown town council can start the search for a replacement.
The council must advertise the position to the public, and they have 30 days to fill the position.
“All resumes should be sent to the Town Council via email to emiller@whitestown.in.gov,” said town manager Dax Norton in an email to Call 6 Investigates. “The Council must conduct interviews in a public forum. They can meet in executive session to narrow the field, but their interview process and choice must be public.”
The council will then vote on the final candidate, and a majority vote is all that is needed, Norton said.
Questions began emerging in December when Andrews posted a sign on her door saying she was out shadowing other clerks.

The Whitestown Town Council called Wednesday's meeting to discuss an ordinance that would require the town's clerk to be in her office during town hall hours, which are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Currently, state law doesn't mandate a minimum number of hours local officials must work.
Before council members could bring up the ordinance, however, Andrews announced her resignation.
