INDIANAPOLIS -- Months after a massive washing machine recall, a woman was finally refunded for her purchase thanks to Call 6 Investigators.
Pauline Heal’s Samsung washer was recalled last November and she reached out to the company for help.
She said technicians caused even more problems as one visit left the machine broken, and another visit left the machine with a constant beeping sound.
“We weren't born yesterday. We know when there's a problem with our product and we need that extra helping hand. No one offered it until you came along,” said Heal.
Call 6 Investigates reached out to Samsung and she received a refund.
“I was given a direct deposit for much more than I've ever dreamed the good Lord would give me. I was granted $875 directly into to my checking account,” said Heal.
Samsung announced the recall after nine people were injured, including a broken jaw, and 733 reports of excessive vibration or tops detaching from the machine.
A Samsung spokesperson released the following statement to Call 6 Investigates on Wednesday:
"We are working as quickly as possible to support all of our customers who have been affected by this recall. In Ms. Heal's case, the process was very unusual among the hundreds of thousands of customers who have participated in the recall program so far. We have apologized to her for the inconvenience and worked with her to ensure she received her rebate. We are listening to and learning from every consumer’s experience in order to constantly improve our processes. Anyone with questions should contact us directly at 1-866-264-5636."
