64 additional COVID-19 deaths and 3,733 positive cases reported in Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana State Department of Health reported Thursday that 64 more people died with COVID-19 and 3,733 others tested positive for the virus.

The majority of the newly reported deaths occurred in the past week with with 41 people dying Tuesday and Wednesday. Deaths are reported based on when the state receives data and occur over multiple days.

There have been 601,937 positive cases and 9,218 confirmed deaths in Indiana since the pandemic began. An additional 375 probable COVID-19 deaths have also been reported.

A total of 2,303 people are in the hospital with COVID-19, an increase of one since Wednesday's report.

There have been more than 6.6 million COVID-19 tests administered to more than 2.86 million individuals with a 21% cumulative positivity rate among unique individuals. Indiana's seven-day positivity rate among unique individuals through Jan. 14 is 19.6%.

Among all tests, the cumulative positivity rate is 10.8%, while the seven-day positivity rate is 10.8%.

The state health department said 27% of ICU beds and 73.8% of ventilators are available.

Nearly 362,500 Hoosiers have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and more than 87,500 have received both doses and are fully vaccinated, according to ISDH's dashboard.
