KOKOMO — A Kokomo business that's been part of the fabric of the city since 1946 is shutting its doors.
Moore's Pie Shop on West Elm Street will close for good on Wednesday. No more pumpkin, apple, cherry, strawberry, raisin and pecan pies — 15 varieties in all. "COVID has not been nice to us," was the message on Facebook.
Owner Greg Lucas told the Kokomo Tribune that the pandemic his cut his business about 45% and he didn't think it would come back fast enough to keep it going.
But, once word got out through social media that Moore's was closing, business was brisk as long time customers stocked up. All that was left going into the final day was pumpkin pie.
