WESTFIELD — How to you stage a meaningful high school graduation when the traditional ways of doing it don't work in the middle of a pandemic?

In Westfield, the solution was a drive-up commencement.

Members of the Westfield High School Class of 2020 didn't even have to get out of their vehicles to receive their diplomas. Just drive up and roll down the window.

The Hamilton County school, along with schools across the state, shut down in mid-March as COVID-19 restrictions took hold.

Since then, school administrators have wrestled with how to hold commencements at a time when large gatherings are forbidden.

Seniors is Westfield seemed to take it all in stride, with decorated vehicles, music blasting and people cheering.
