SOUTH BEND — Notre Dame football games will look and sound different in 2020.

The university announced Monday that attendance for home football games will be limited to no more than 20% capacity due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Notre Dame Stadium seats 77,622 fans, meaning no more than 15,524 people will be allowed inside.

Notre Dame does not plan to make single-game football tickets available to the general public due to the limited capacity, according to the athletic department's website.

Notre Dame students will receive first priority for tickets in order to assure that every student who wants to attend is able, according to the university. Once student demand is met, tickets will be made available to Notre Dame faculty and staff.

People from outside the Notre Dame campus community, such as family members of athletes from both teams, will be seated in separate areas of the stadium.

Masks and social distancing will be required throughout the stadium, and tailgating will be prohibited.

The university will issue mobile tickets for each of Notre Dame's six home games. The Fighting Irish open the season Sept. 12 against Duke.
