COVID-19 concerns in small Indiana town outside Richmond

WILLIAMSBURG — People who attended a recent event in Wayne County may have been exposed to COVID-19.

Christine Stinson, Executive Director of the Wayne County Health Department, said the event was July 31, 7 p.m., at the Williamsburg Community Gym on Centerville Road. Williamsburg is northwest of Richmond and about 70-miles east of Indianapolis.

According to Stinson, anyone who attended the event may have been exposed to a positive COVID-19 person. The health department is having difficulties identifying the close contacts from this event and is asking anyone who was there to watch for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19.

The symptoms would include: Fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, nausea/vomiting and diarrhea, new loss of taste or smell, runny nose and chills. Stinson said anyone who attended the event should be vigilant of wearing a mask in public and practice social distancing.

Anyone who is experiencing symptoms should be tested and isolate for 10 days from the start of symptoms. If you attended this event and would like to talk to the health department, call 765-973-9245.
