FISHERS — Firefighters in Fishers, in conjunction with the Fishers Health Department, have begun administering COVID-19 vaccinations at assisted living centers in the city.

According to the Fishers Fire Department, firefighters will vaccinate an estimated 300 residents at the city's assisted living facilities.

On Monday, the Fishers Health Department opened a COVID-19 vaccination site, 12520 E. 16th St., that is open to all residents of Indiana. Anyone who meets the Indiana requirements for vaccination — 70 years old and older, healthcare worker, first responder — can schedule an appointment online. Residents can also visit the city's vaccine site to fill out the Vaccine Interest Survey to indicate interest and ability for standby vaccines and receive additional vaccine information.

The fire department said in order to reach those age 70 and older, firefighters will also provide the vaccine to those community members who are unable to get to a vaccination site because they are medically homebound through the Community Paramedicine program. Residents can indicate they are homebound through the city's Vaccine Interest Survey.
