FORT WAYNE — The Fort Wayne Children's Zoo announced Thursday that they would be opening to the public beginning July 4.

If you can't wait that long to visit some animals, the zoo is also offering three weeks of exclusive members-only access to the zoo prior to their official opening.

Current zoo members can visit the zoo by appointment from June 14 to July 3 by signing up for a 'timed ticket'. A membership card, photo ID and timed ticket will be required for entry at check-in.

"Timed tickets for members only will expedite entrance lines, encourage appropriate social distancing and allow the Zoo to follow Governor Holcomb's orders to operate at half capacity," the zoo posted on their website.

We also reached out to the Indianapolis Zoo. They tell WRTV that they are still working on their reopening safety plan and would release more information when they have it available.

Until then, the Indianapolis Zoo has been sharing daily videos on social media as part of their "Bringing the Zoo to You" campaign. Those can be viewed online at the Indianapolis Zoo Facebook or Twitter pages.
