Indiana reports 46 more COVID-19 deaths and 2,647 positive cases

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana State Department of Health reported Friday that 46 more people died with COVID-19 and 2,647 others tested positive for the virus.

All of newly reported deaths occurred in the past week with 28 people dying Wednesday and Thursday. Deaths are reported based on when the state receives data and occur over multiple days.

There have been 622,625 positive cases and 9,549 confirmed deaths in Indiana since the pandemic began. An additional 376 probable COVID-19 deaths have also been reported.

A total of 1,725 people are in the hospital with COVID-19, a decrease of 190 since Tuesday's report.

There have been more than 6.92 million COVID-19 tests administered to more than 2.94 million individuals with a 21.2% cumulative positivity rate among unique individuals. Indiana's seven-day positivity rate among unique individuals through Jan. 22 is 17.3%.

Among all tests, the cumulative positivity rate is 10.6%, while the seven-day positivity rate is 8.7%.

The state health department said 31.4% of ICU beds and 77.1% of ventilators are available.

Nearly 519,000 Hoosiers have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and almost 127,500 people have received both doses and are fully vaccinated, according to ISDH's dashboard.
