INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana State Department of Health reported Wednesday that 59 more people died with COVID-19 and 3,686 others tested positive for the virus.
The majority of newly reported deaths occurred in the past week with 52 people dying between Sunday-Tuesday. Deaths are reported based on when the state receives data and occur over multiple days.
There have been 574,119 positive cases and 8,790 confirmed deaths in Indiana since the pandemic began. An additional 373 probable COVID-19 deaths have also been reported.
A total of 2,484 people are in the hospital with COVID-19, a decrease of 31 since Tuesday's report.
There have been more than 6.22 million COVID-19 tests administered to more than 2.77 million individuals with a 20.7% cumulative positivity rate among unique individuals. Indiana's seven-day positivity rate among unique individuals through Jan. 6 is 27%.
Among all tests, the cumulative positivity rate is 10.9%, while the seven-day positivity rate is 16.1%.
The state health department said 25% of ICU beds and 73.2% of ventilators are available.
