INDIANAPOLIS — The University of Indianapolis has paused all activities for the men's basketball team because of COVID-19 concerns.
The university on Monday announced that all team activities are on hold for two weeks based on protocols developed by the NCAA and the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
The decision will impact two conference games originally slated for later this week. It will also force the cancellation of a Dec. 8 exhibition game at Indiana State University.
According to a statement from the university, the concerns stem from an initial positive COVID-19 test result among the team's tier 1 personnel, which includes student-athletes, coaches and select support staff. The university said the 14-day period ensures the team meets the recommended isolation and quarantine guidelines in order to keep the entire team safe and healthy.
The university said it will make every attempt to reschedule the affected conference games with Lewis University and McKendree University.
