INDIANAPOLIS -- With warnings from officials to stay home this holiday season, many are alone and experiencing isolation. That is the exact reason why one Indianapolis businessman said his third annual event is more important now than ever.

John Hobelman, General Manager of Neidhammer Coffee Company and Events on East Washington Street, put together 200 care bags with an army of volunteers. Each bag comes with Jacks donuts, coffee and a note. On Christmas Eve, Hobelman and several volunteers held a COVID-safe event where “elves” could pick-up care bags to deliver bags to those in need of a little extra love this holiday season.

“Christmas is a time no matter what your belief is, it’s a time for people to come together. And we can’t do coffee, donuts and love like we have in previous years, but this is a way for us to let people know hey somebody out there’s thinking about you, you matter and we care about you,” said Hobelman.

More bags will be handed out at the third annual Coffee, Donuts, and Love event on Christmas Day from Noon-3 p.m. in the back parking lot of Neidhammer’s, as well. There is still a GoFundMe for the event where all the proceeds will go towards the creation of the care bags. To donate, click here.
