JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. – Nearly three dozen people from Central Indiana were arrested in a massive drug sweep in Johnson County Monday.
The 35 individuals arrested are accused of selling meth in Central Indiana that originates from Mexico, police said.
The Johnson County prosecutor said the arrests are the result of a 3-month-long investigation involving undercover officers.
Many of those arrested are from areas like Edinburgh, Greenwood, Franklin, and Columbus, according to police.
The prosecutor said some of the transactions were done in the middle of the day, in public places, citing a post office parking lot as an example.
Officials believe meth has now become easier to import from Mexico than to produce it at home because of tougher restrictions on Ephedrine sales.
The Johnson County prosecutor said they hope this arrest sends a clear message that law enforcement is going after drugs and dealers aggressively.
