INDIANAPOLIS -- Indianapolis Animal Care Services captured six goats Saturday that were running amok on the far-west side.

The goats were running loose in the 8600 block of West Washington Street, just a short distance north of the Indianapolis International Airport.

IACS officers eventually called in police to assist in capturing the goats, who were taken into custody for care and treatment.

Officers identified the property the goats originated from, and located several chickens and turkeys that also had care and treatment issues, but which could not be captured.

Although IACS is rarely called to deal with goats, public information officer Dimitri Kyser said it is equipped to handle them.

"Indianapolis Animal Care Services has a pasture and a barn and often takes in livestock of this nature," Kyser said. "Currently, there is a horse, a pig and chickens (not associated with this case."

Kyser said IACS couldn't comment any further on the case because it remains an ongoing investigation.
