BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. -- A driver is wanted in connection with a hit-and-run involving a 2-year-old girl in Bartholomew County.
A Bartholomew County Sheriff's deputy said the toddler was playing at the Elkland Hills Mobile Home Park around 8:45 p.m. Monday night when she tried to cross the road.
The girl was struck by a vehicle that witnesses say was traveling at a high rate of speed.
The driver, described as a skinny, white man with dark hair, briefly stopped then fled the scene.
Sarah Tucker, the child's mother, said Raven and her brother were playing in the yard when the incident happened.
“They went out in the road and right as I said ‘get off the road,’ the vehicle comes flying up and hit my baby," said Tucker.
The sheriff's office says a passenger in the vehicle, who identified herself to the child's mother, has not responded to phone calls nor has she contacted authorities about the incident.
The girl was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital where she was treated for a fractured left foot.
Anyone with information about this hit-and-run is asked to contact the Bartholomew County Sheriff's Office at (812) 379-1712.
