Bullet that killed man on Indianapolis' east side may have come from outside apartment

INDIANAPOLIS -- A man died following a shooting early Friday morning on Indianapolis' east side.

A woman called 911 shortly after 1 a.m. to report a shooting at an apartment in the 6200 block of Eastridge Drive.

She told Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department homicide detectives that the victim did not live in the apartment. However, they do believe he was a family member.

Police say they aren't sure if the bullet came from inside the apartment or outside.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as 46-year-old Albert Schumpert, Jr.

No word on any suspects at this time.
