PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. -- The man accused of shooting a Cloverdale Police Officer was arrested Saturday afternoon, according to Indiana State Police.
Jeffery Hunter, 48, was arrested following his release from an Indianapolis hospital, where he had been undergoing treatment since the Dec. 10 shooting.
According to Indiana State Police, Cloverdale officer Luke Brown, 27, was injured in a shooting in Greencastle during the incident.
Brown along with other officers responded to the home in the 4400 block of E. County Road 375 S. following another shooting in Putnam County.
State police said Hunter confronted the officers at the door of the home and fired a shotgun, hitting Officer Brown in the chest. Brown returned fire, hitting the suspect in the torso.
The bullet hit Officer Brown's vest and he was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released.
While wounded, Officer Brown provided medical treatment to the suspect until the paramedics arrived.
On Saturday Hunter was taken to the Putnam County Jail on preliminary charges of attempted murder, resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, battery and theft.
