COLUMBUS, Ind. -- Columbus police say a suspect bit an officer Monday during an arrest attempt.
Officers were called to the 1000 block of Phoenix Court around 12:30 p.m. on a report of an unresponsive man inside a vehicle in the parking lot.
Officers arrived to find 38-year-old Christopher A. Riddle, of Columbus, inside the car, along with a large knife and baseball. Police also reportedly say items “associated with the use and distribution of narcotics.”
After being awoken by police, Riddle reportedly became combative and struggled with officers – biting one of them on the arm. Officers then deployed a Taser on Riddle and placed him into custody without further incident.
A second man, 33-year-old Jayson D. Ackenback, who was reportedly shouting threats at officers from nearby during the arrest was found hiding in a closet. Police determined he had a parole warrant for his arrest. He was also taken into custody.
Riddle faces preliminary charges of battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, possession of a syringe and possession of drug paraphernalia. Riddle also had an outstanding arrest warrant out of Marion County for a probation violation on a charge of felony narcotics dealing and possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon.
