Couple carjacked while delivering newspapers

INDIANAPOLIS – A couple was carjacked at gunpoint Monday on Indy’s west side while delivering the morning newspaper.

Jerry and Dianna Rosner said the incident happened around 3 a.m. on Bertha Street when two young men walked up with a gun.

"He immediately said ‘get out of the car’ and I said ‘what’ and I looked over and there's a gun pointed right at my head,” said Jerry.

Once Jerry was out of the car, he said he began plotting a plan to stop them until the suspects turned the gun on Dianna.

"They were short guys. I mean they were young and they weren’t very big at all, but when he ran over and pointed the gun at her you know, that sort of calms you down real quick,” said Jerry.

The two men took off in the couple’s 1997 Ford Taurus.

Jerry and Dianna knocked on a customer’s door who helped them notify police.

The couple may be without a vehicle, but Jerry and Dianna said they will continue to deliver papers as the extra money will go toward a new car.
