INDIANAPOLIS -- The U.S. Attorney's Office filed charges Friday against two men accused in a massive drug distribution operation on Indy's west side.

Kelly Spinks Jr., 33, and William Belew Jr., 31, face federal charges of conspiracy to possess 100 kilograms or more of marijuana with intent to distribute.

The charges stem from a DEA investigation of a warehouse in the 1800 block of South Stout Field Drive on the southwest side near the intersection of Holt Road and Minnesota Street.

In a probable cause affidavit, federal agents said they observed Spinks and Belew moving large quantities of marijuana in and out of the warehouse.

On Friday, officers stopped Belew's Ford Expedition. Inside, they reportedly found clear, heat-sealed baggies containing more than 70 pounds of marijuana.

An additional 200 pounds of marijuana in similar heat-sealed bags was found inside the warehouse, along with a spiral notebook containing handwritten descriptions of various strains of high-grade marijuana.

As a part of the investigation, agents also executed a search warrant at an office building in the 1200 block of Indy Place, near 10th Street and Country Club Road on the far west side.

There, they reportedly found more than $3.5 million in U.S. currency and more than 30 firearms.

Spinks and Belew were taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail without incident.
