INDIANAPOLIS -- Police are looking for a driver involved in a deadly hit and run on Indianapolis' southwest side Friday.
Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department on the scene said the body was discovered shortly after 6 a.m. Friday morning in the 5000 block of Troy Avenue, but that it was likely out there for hours.
The man and woman who called 911 Friday morning told police there was a loud thump around 6:30 p.m. last night and then what sounded like someone speeding off.
The couple said because it was so dark, they couldn't make out the body laying in their own front yard, but once they woke up and looked again, they realized it was a man. They said they dismissed it as someone hitting trash cans, saying that happens often.
The victim has been identified as 51-year-old Chris Hamilton of Indianapolis. Police say they believe he was riding his three-wheeled bicycle west on Troy when he was struck.
Investigators do not have any suspects, a vehicle description, or vehicle pieces left at the scene of the crash.
Anyone with any information on this incident is asked to call to call Crime Stoppers.
