INDIANAPOLIS -- The driver of a second vehicle involved in an April crash that killed two Ben Davis High School students has been charged with chasing the victims at a high rate of speed through traffic when the crash occurred.

Daniel Cannon, 26, is charged with five counts of criminal recklessness and one count each of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and leaving the scene of an accident causing serious bodily injury.

The crash happened April 18 on Interstate 70 near the Harding Street exit. Brandon Gross, 18, and Taylor Parsons, 17, were both killed as a result of the crash. Three others were seriously injured.

Investigators believe the chase was prompted by an interaction that occurred between Cannon’s sister and the victims at Rhodius Park.

Witnesses told police that they saw the two vehicles traveling at a high rate of speed. The Marion County Prosecutor's Cannon is alleged to have returned to the scene and spoken to witnesses to determine if authorities were aware of his involvement.

Cannon initially told police at the scene that he saw the car roll several times and kept driving but later admitted to police that he was chasing the teens.

The incident remains under investigation by the Indiana State Police.
