INDIANAPOLIS -- A probationary officer with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was arrested for domestic assault late Friday evening.
Officers were called to the Marathon Gas Station at Thompson Road and Arlington Avenue around 11:30 p.m. in reference to a domestic violence incident that had occurred earlier that day.
When responding officers discovered that one of the people involved was an IMPD Probationary Officer, detectives from the IMPD Special Investigation Unit were called to investigate.
After being questioned, Probationary Officer Christopher Charles was arrested by investigators. He's charged with battery and domestic battery.
Charles had been employed with IMPD since December 2015.
According to a release sent out by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department on Saturday, Chief Bryan Roach ordered the immediate confiscation of Charles' department-issued police equipment and has begun the process of terminating Charles' employment with from the department.
