INDIANAPOLIS -- Police are investigating the death of an inmate at the Marion County Jail on Thursday due to an apparent seizure.
Larry E. Chambers, 37, was found having an apparent seizure at 4:51 p.m. Thursday inside a cell in the jail’s Central Receiving area, according to a statement by the Marion County Sheriff’s Department.
Medical responders declared Chambers dead at 5:38 p.m.
The sheriff’s department said no foul play was suspected at this time, but that IMPD, the Marion County Coroner’s Office and the Marion County Forensic Services Agency would conduct a follow-up investigation into the death, along with sheriff’s deputies.
Jail records show Chambers was taken into custody Wednesday on a preliminary charge of possession of a synthetic drug or lookalike substance.
Chambers is the second inmate to die at the jail this year.
In April, 38-year-old Orville Mitchell was found unresponsive in his jail cell and pronounced dead a short time later.

Mitchell was in custody on a theft charge. No cause of death for him was released.
The Marion County Coroner’s Office was still working Friday to determine an official cause of death for Chambers.
