INDIANAPOLIS – A man faces seven felony charges for his alleged involvement in a crash that killed two Ben Davis High School students in April.
Daniel Cannon was taken into custody last week and appeared in the Marion County Court for the first time Thursday for his initial hearing and declined to comment on the incident.
Investigators said Cannon chased after a group of five teens, who later crashed their vehicle on I-70 near Harding Street. The incident killed 18-year-old Brandon Gross and 17-year-old Taylor Parsons.
Kristopher Church said he was in the vehicle the night of the crash.
"I was in the middle of the backseat, Brandon was on the side of me and Olivia was on the other side,” said Church. “I put her seatbelt on as we were getting into the crash so she had her seatbelt on and didn't sustain any injury. But everyone else did and we lost two of them obviously and they were like my best friends. It changed me for the better to be honest. I don't do the bad, negative things that I used to."
Cannon is scheduled to go to trial in September.
