INDIANAPOLIS -- A man who was apparently angry about a malfunctioning pump opened fire outside a gas station on Indianapolis northeast side and one of the bullets shattered the front door.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called to the Sunoco station in the 3800 block of North Post Road shortly after midnight on Friday.

A worker at the gas station said he refunded $5 to a woman who bought gas but the pump didn't work.

The woman tried to buy gas again but her card was declined. Another person in the store gave the woman $5 to pay for the gas.

The worker said a man came in a few minutes later and was angry because the gas pump didn't work.

He grabbed two containers of motor oil and tried to walk out without paying, so the worker remotely locked the front door.

The man then put the oil back, the door was unlocked, and he left.

The worker says the next thing he heard was about five gunshots and one of them hit the front door of the store, causing the glass to shatter.

The man got on a motorcycle and left.

No one was hurt.
