INDIANAPOLIS – A Marion County inmate was found dead inside his cell Thursday evening.
Orville Mitchell, 38, was found unresponsive at the Marion County Jail and was pronounced dead at 5:15 p.m., according to officials at the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
A follow up death investigation is being conducted by Indianapolis police, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the Marion County Coroner's Office and the Marion County Forensic Services Agency.
Mitchell was placed in jail April 23 on a theft charge. He also had a pending case for resisting law enforcement, obstruction of justice and possession of a controlled substance.
