LEBANON, Ind. – At the age of 3, Lilly Grace was partially scalped when a man she called her father pulled on her hair too tightly. Lilly's mother is pushing for that man to get the maximum sentence when he goes before a judge next week.

"All the blood just pooled between her skull and her scalp,” said Noel Maxwell, Lilly’s mother. “Her face was so swollen I couldn't even tell it was my own daughter.”

Maxwell said the man behind the crime was her ex-boyfriend, Andrew Milburn.

Milburn and Lilly traveled to Russiaville where he was visiting his children when the 3-year-old was hurt.

Milburn first said Lilly fell, but he later pleaded guilty to an assault and battery charge.

"I trusted him with my daughter, and he hurt her,” said Maxwell who mentioned Lilly had nightmares and feared being alone after her injury. "I just, I made it very clear that he would not hurt her again."

The now 4-year-old has recovered from her injuries, but Maxwell hopes Milburn gets the maximum sentence of eight years.

Milburn’s sentencing is set to take place next week and could get two to eight years for assault and battery of a minor under the age of 14.
