INDIANAPOLIS -- A man accused of the 2016 murder of 30-year-old Jokoby Scott will serve just two years on home detention thanks to a plea agreement accepted Monday in Marion County court.

Donahvon Troutman, 28, was arrested in May 2016 after leading police on a chase following Scott's fatal shooting near Washington Park.

Troutman has been in custody at the Marion County Jail since his arrest on charges of murder, resisting law enforcement and carrying a handgun without a license.

On Monday, Troutman agreed to plead guilty to one charge of carrying a handgun without a license and one charge of resisting law enforcement. In exchange, prosecutors agreed to drop the murder charge against him, along with a second charge of resisting arrest.

Following his plea, Troutman was sentenced to time served in jail plus two years in community corrections on home detention with GPS monitoring.

He will also have to pay a $1,300 fine to the court.

Troutman made headlines in November 2014 when he won a temporary release from jail to attend the funeral of his 5-year-old son Damoni Troutman, who had been killed in an accidental shooting by his 9-year-old half-brother.

Troutman had been sentenced a month earlier to three years behind bars for carrying a handgun without a license. He was released on that charge in October 2015.
