NEW CASTLE, Ind. -- A New Castle family says they woke Saturday morning to the sound of a man trying to break into their home.

Casey McDonald, 38, of New Castle is facing preliminary charges of residential entry, possession of meth and possession of a syringe.

State police responded to a call around 7:45 a.m. of a homeowner holding an intruder at gunpoint in the 7200 block of S. CR 200W.

The homeowner said he told his wife to call 911 while he went outside with his shotgun and held the suspect at gunpoint until police arrived.

Troopers also found McDonald's car parked in the middle of the road. It was towed from the scene.
