PD: Dispute over shoes led to shooting that left one Warren Central student dead, two others injured

INDIANAPOLIS -- A Warren Central High School student was killed and two others were seriously injured in a shooting on Indianapolis' northwest side early Saturday morning. 

The shooting happened near the 5600 block of W. 38th Street just after midnight.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers say an argument oer shoes led to three teens being shot. 

 Angel Mejia-Alfaro, 17, was pronounced dead at the scene.  

The two others were taken to the hospital to be treated for their injuries. Their conditions are not known at this time. 

Police have not released any details about the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The Metropolitan School District of Warren Township said all three victims are students at Warren Central High School.

They released the following statement regarding the shootings:

"As a school community we are saddened to learn of the tragic incident involving our high school students. We extend our heartfelt prayers to the families impacted by this terrible act.

As classes at the high school resume on Monday, we will have the appropriate services on hand to counsel our kids."

The shooting remains under investigation by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
