ANDERSON, Ind. -- A 17-year-old was killed by his 16-year-old brother in what police are calling an accidental shooting.

Police say the shooting happened around 4 p.m. Tuesday near the 1600 block of West Seventh Street.

The victim was shot in the chest and taken to Community Hospital in Anderson where he died. His identity has not been released.

Neighbors say the tragedy so close to home makes them nervous.

"It could have been one of my own," said Christy Sylvester who lives nearby. "One of my own kids cause I have a 16-year-old in the house right now. It could have been her, who knows."

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation but police are calling it an accident.
