INDIANAPOLIS -- Police say a deadly shooting in a liquor store parking lot last week took place during a music video shoot.

The shooting happened just before 10 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of Triangle Liquors on Roosevelt Avenue.

Police say the victim, Trymaine Lewis, 37, was in the crowd with about 50 – 60 other people. Sometime during the video shoot, the suspect, Robert Ray, 21, was seen exchanging gunfire with Lewis before the crowd scattered.

Lewis was left unresponsive in the parking lot and later died at the hospital. His cause of death was determined to be multiple gunshot wounds.

Detectives were able to identify Ray from the surveillance video based on their previous encounters with him.

Ray was arrested at his mother’s home in Castleton on Tuesday. Police found him suffering from a gunshot wound and an injured foot. He was taken to the Eskenazi hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Ray is facing a preliminary charge of murder. Additional charges could come later.
