LEBANON, Ind. -- Police now have a person of interest in custody in connection with an early morning break-in that left a 73-year-old Lebanon man dead and his wife injured.

Officers were called to the scene on Dicks Street after a woman went to her neighbor's house around 7 a.m. Sunday to call for help.

Lebanon Police Department officers found Maxwell Foster, 73, dead inside the home.

Foster's wife told police that they woke up early Sunday morning to find a man inside their home. That man stabbed her husband to death and injured her. She was taken to the hospital to be treated for lacerations.

Around 5 p.m. Sunday evening police arrested a man they are calling a "person of interest" in the case. They have not released that man's identity or why they believe he may be connected to the stabbing.

The suspect is described as a white male who stands about 6 feet tall with a skinny build and long brown hair. He was last seen running southeast away from the home.

Neighbors say the Fosters had recently come home early from a vacation but they are unsure if that had anything to do with the break-in.

"Obviously I'm concerned for my own family's safety," said Wally Fine. "We do have a security system on the house and probably everyone should."

The incident remains under investigation by the Lebanon Police Department.

Anyone who has any information about a possible suspect or who saw anything suspicious in the area this morning should contact the Boone County Sheriff at 765-482-8836.
