BEDFORD, Ind. -- One man is dead and another is behind bars after an altercation led to a deadly shooting at a Lawrence County McDonalds early Sunday morning.
According to the Bedford Police Department, the shooting happened just after 1 a.m.
Officers were called to the McDonalds on 16th Street for a report of a fight. When they arrived, they found a man had been shot. Witnesses told police that the suspect left the scene.
The victim was taken to IU Health Bedford where he later died. His identity has not been released.
Police stopped the suspect vehicle a short time later at Patrick Robbins Way and SR 37. Evan Schaffer, 22, was arrested and charged with murder.
The shooting remains under investigation by the Bedford Police Department.
