INDIANAPOLIS – A woman was struck by a vehicle and killed on the city’s southwest side Sunday night.

Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department say when they arrived to the scene near Holt and Kentucky avenues, they found an unresponsive woman lying in the street. She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to officers.

IMPD said the driver that hit the 35-year-old woman pedestrian stopped their vehicle, but there may be another driver involved that ran over the woman once she was struck. They believe that driver fled east on Kentucky Avenue.

Police are looking for a red or maroon SUV, with undercarriage damage.

It is not known if speed or any other contributing factors led to the crash.

Police said this is an ongoing investigation. The name of the woman has not been released.
