INDIANAPOLIS -- A pedestrian was struck and killed by a stolen vehicle on the city's southwest side.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were called to the scene at the intersection of W. Washington and Holt Road.

Police say the suspect stole a white Ford Navigator that had been left running and backed up over a pedestrian as the suspect was trying to speed away from the scene.

The suspect then drove off.

Police later found an SUV matching the description of the hit-and-run. Police detained two people inside the vehicle.
