Kokomo Police: 17-year-old killed, two arrested in drug deal gone bad

KOKOMO, Ind. -- A 17-year-old was shot and killed in Kokomo Sunday and two people were arrested after what investigators say was a drug deal gone bad.

Officers were called to the the 900 block of West Jefferson around 12:30 p.m. Sunday after a shooting took place behind the Village Pantry.

They found LeMarcus McGraw, 17, of Kokomo lying on the ground with several gunshot wounds. McGraw later died as a result of his injuries. He was a senior at The Crossing, a Christian alternative school.

Officers located the suspect Kaliel Rucker, 21, of Kokomo several blocks away.

Police say Rucker had a handgun and admitted to shooting McGraw. Investigators also say they found a handgun at the scene.

Rucker is preliminarily charged with murder, possession of marijuana and dealing marijuana, according to police.

Officers say a 15-year-old was also preliminarily charged with attempted robbery, possession of marijuana and dealing marijuana.
