Police: 80-year-old man raped Kokomo woman at gunpoint

KOKOMO, Ind. -- Kokomo police arrested an 80-year-old man accused of confining and raping a woman at gunpoint Sunday night.

The Kokomo Police Department received a 911 call at 5:55 a.m. Monday from a 29-year-old woman who said she had been held and raped at gunpoint at a house in the 1400 block of North Lafountain Street.

The woman told police she had gone to the house to sell an electronic tablet.

Officers obtained a search warrant for the residence, and at 11:30 a.m. Kokomo SWAT officers approached the home – at which point two male subjects exited the house without incident.

Police arrested two men in connection with the case: 80-year-old William T. Graham and 56-year-old Robert Meriwether Sr., both of Kokomo.

Graham faces preliminary charges of rape, confinement and armed robbery. Meriwether was arrested on outstanding warrants from Howard County.

The victim was transported to an Indianapolis hospital for medical treatment. Police said she suffered minor injuries.
